Moran’s Chelsea shares their recipe for Mulled Wine. This winter beverage is usually made by simmering red wine with various spices. There’s many variations out there. Mulled wine can be serve hot or warm.
- 2 bottles of Pinot Noir
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- Zest of 1 orange
- Zest of 1 lemon
- 1/2 cup kirsch
Sachet: In a tea ball or cheese cloth
- 2 black pepper corns
- 2 cardamon pods broken in 2
- 1 cinnamon stick broken into 2 pieces
- 2 cloves
- 1 star anise
- Place the red wine, sugar orange and lemon zest over low heat in a sauce pan. Add the sachet to the wine.
- Bring the wine to a very gentle simmer, and stir until the sugar dissolves. Remove from heat, remove the sachet, and add the kirsch into the spiced wine. Ladle the wine into heat proof glasses and serve.
