I was so excited the other day when I came home and found a Liz Lovely cookie sampler gift box waiting at my door step. Liz Lovely is a certified vegan bakery based in Vermont which was started by a husband and wife team, Liz and Dan. All their cookies are made with 100% natural and vegan ingredients, safe and sustainable palm oil, with no trans-fats. They also have a selection of gluten-free cookies too. They are committed to making real food, promoting cruelty-free living, and using green packaging. Their Lovely Bunch Vegan Cookie Sampler was packaged in a pretty pink gift box.

The gift box sat inside the shipping box protected with a layer of peanuts. Not your typical Styrofoam peanuts, but biodegradable peanuts made from corn starch. These peanuts dissolve safely in water leaving no toxic waste, so you can just wash them down the sink. That’s pretty neat.

The Cookie Sampler came with six packs of cookies, each one containing two large decadent pieces. There’s the Cowboy Cookies (oatmeal, walnuts and chocolate), Cowgirl Cookies (chocolate chip cookie dough), Peanut Butter Classics (peanut butter and dark chocolate), Ginger Snapdragons (molasses and crystallized ginger), Chocolate Moose Dragons (fudgy chocolate and cacao nibs), Snicker Dudes (soft-baked cinnamon and sugar), and their newest addition Creature Comfort Cookies, which is a chocolate chip cookie with pecans, cacao nibs and a hint of coconut.

I’ve seen their cookies at Whole Foods Markets and have also encountered them before at food festivals. Which cookie should I open first? The Creature Comfort Cookies sounds like a lot of fun, but the Cowgirl Cookies are calling me too. Who can resist chocolate chip cookie dough? Mm… time to indulge.
