Last Friday, Lidia Bastianich held a book signing event in Pittsburgh, PA at a Wine & Spirit Store. A friend of mine told me about this and we hurried over to the store after work. Lidia is probably best known for her television cooking show, “Lidia’s Italy.” She owns four Italian restaurants in New York City, Felidia, Esca, Becco, and Del Posto, as well as Lidia’s Pittsburgh in PA and Lidia’s Kansas City in MO. She was signing copies of the companion cookbook to her current show, also titled, Lidia’s Italy. There was also food and wine sampling. I can’t quite remember what the food dishes were called, but from what I remember, there was this cold refreshing beet salad, this delicious mini fried pancake, and a tasty swiss chard pastry.
I picked up a copy of the cookbook and she kindly signed it. I haven’t had the chance to look into it in detail, but she presents a collection of her favorite recipes from various regions of Italy. I do wish that there were more pictures in the book though. When I get the chance, I’ll have to carefully skim through it and select a recipe to try out. For now, here’s some pictures from the event.
