Lao Sze Chuan Chinese Restaurant and Bar opened earlier this month in Uptown at 4832 North Broadway, establishing Tony Hu’s flagship brand in both the North and South sides of Chicago. The original Lao Sze Chuan, opened in 1998, can still be found at 2172 South Archer Ave.
I recently stopped by for dinner and noticed that there are even more items on the menu than ever before, with options such as soup, seafood, Cheng Du Style hot pot, noodle soup, beef & lamb, chicken & duck, pork, vegetable-only, tofu, fried rice, fried noodle, Pot home style and Szechwan desserts. Every meal comes with a free small plate of thin spicy cabbage.
Lao Sze Chuan is a welcome addition to the Uptown neighborhood and one more fine option for Chinese food near the Argyle-area.
