The Afropunk Festival returns to Brooklyn’s Commodore Barry Park this weekend, Aug 25-26. It was too bad that last year’s festival had to be cancelled because Hurricane Irene, but this year it’s back with an awesome musical line-up, skate park, bikes, art, thrift market, and the first ever Bites & Beats food truck rally.
Trucks will be parked on Navy Street between Park Ave and Flushing Ave, including Domo Taco, Bian Dang, Fishing Shrimp, Korilla BBQ, Rickshaw Dumpling, Mexicue, Desi Truck, Jamaican Dutchy, Snap! , Eddie’s Pizza, Valducci’s Pizza, Gorilla Grilled Cheese, Morris Grilled Cheese, Cupcake Crew, Kelvin’s Natural Slush, Green Pirate Juice, Wooly’s Ice, Van Leeuwen Ice Cream, and Nuchas Empanadas. The festival will also feature two pop-up restaurants, Fort Green’s own Madiba and Brooklyn Moon, and a sweet tent with treats from DOUGH, STOGO Vegan ice cream and Mrs. Dorseys Kitchen.
Event is free to the public!
To get there: B, D, N, Q, or R Trains to Dekalb Avenue Station. F Train to York Street Station. B57, B62 & B69 Buses to Commodore Barry Park.
