Well, for quite a while I have been compiling this long list of awesome kitchen appliances that I plan on buying over time. One of these appliances is the waffle maker! I have been looking to waffle makers for quite a while. I had in mind a single slice Belgium waffle maker, a rotating one in particular, that made thick and large pocketed circular waffles. Something along the lines of this.
Few weeks ago, my mom dug up a mini waffle maker she had stowed away ages ago in the kitchen cabinet. “I’ll take it!” I exclaimed. Sure, it was not exactly what I had in mind, but it definitely will do the job for now.
Meet the single waffle Salton waffle maker!
This waffle maker is small and very easy to use. Both the top and bottom plates heat up. There is a light on the outside cover that tells you when the waffles are done. Red light means “in progress” and when the light goes out (takes about 2-3 minutes) you have one completed waffle!
For my test run, I used Hungry Jack Pancake and Waffle Mix. It was quick and convenient. All I needed was to add oil, water, and and an egg. Two cups of mix produced about 8 waffles.
Packaged pancake/waffle mix is fast and simple, but it surely does not beat making it from scratch. I will have to explore the world of pancake/waffle making and possibly stir up some interesting waffles. One recipe I have in mind is for Green Tea waffles. I have seen them at stores and they are delectable! I will try that out sometime.
