Tomato Blast describes itself as “part tomato fight, part tomato festival” and they are set to paint the parking lot of Soldier Field red on Saturday, July 27.
The social event is modeled after Spain’s La Tomatina Fest in Buñol, where residents hold tomato fights for fun on the last Wednesday of August.
Participants are encouraged to bring their own safety goggles for protection in this free-for-all. The tomatoes used for the fight are all over-riped and not edible.
Tickets are $49.99, but there’s a half-price deal on Groupon.
The event runs from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and the tomato fight will begin at 3:00 p.m.
