The Toast of Brooklyn – Wine and Food Festival will be held at Bed-Stuy Restoration’s West Plaza Courtyard at 1368 Fulton St in Brooklyn on Friday, Sept 13th and Saturday, Sept 14th. Over 50 wines and culinary chefs and experts will be participating in this event and there will be lots of samples of fine wines and spirits, along with food tastings and entertainment.
On Friday the event launches at 6:00pm with a VIP Reception honoring Nelson Mandela for his humanitarianism and social activism. A number of local leaders will also be recognized for their commitment to the community and specifically the Bed-Stuy BID.
The Plaza will be transformed to a wine country tour, featuring the artwork of Brooklyn’s own, internationally renowned artist, Danny Simmons, also the brother of Hip Hop mogul Russell Simmons.
Day two continues on Saturday with more food and wine tastings, held in two sessions, one at 2pm and one at 6pm. In addition to wine and food tastings, there will be cooking demonstrations by the borough’s best chefs, live music featuring jazz, soul, and other genres from a variety of artists, and arts and crafts vendors.
Admission tickets for both days including the Friday VIP Reception are $75. General admission tickets for Saturday only are $40 through August 31st and $50 thereafter.
This event, presented by the Bedford-Stuyvesant Gateway Business Improvement District (The BID) and The Bedford-Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation (BSRC), aims to showcase the Bed-Stuy and Brooklyn community, while attracting businesses and tourism to the area. Find out more on the event website.
