Three Dots and a Dash, a tiki bar specializing in modern interpretations of Hawaiian-Style cocktails, will finally open late October in River North, Chicago, reports Time Out Magazine.
Opened by veteran mixologist Paul McGee (formerly of The Whistler) and restauranteurs Jerrod and R.J. Melman, Three Dots and a Dash will be located at 435 N. Clark St. below Bub City, a seafood/BBQ country bar also founded by the Melman brothers.
The name of the tiki bar comes from a Don the Beachcomber drink from the 1940s.
“It has a couple different types of rum, honey, allspice, Angostura bitters—all these spice elements to the cocktail—and it’s one I’ve really liked for a long time, ever since I started doing tiki drinks,” McGee tells Time Out. “The name refers to Morse code: Three dots and a dash is Morse code for the letter V, and that was used to symbolize victory in World War II.”
