Panko bread crumbs are made from the soft, tender centers of the bread. They are large and flaky, and absorb less oil and are much lighter and crunchier than traditional bread crumbs. You can bake them, fry them, or use it for a coating or as a topping. Totally delicious! I’ve used Japanese panko bread crumbs before. I actually prefer it over regular bread crumbs. I’ve never tried Progresso panko bread crumbs and definitely have not tried anything other than plain ones.

Progresso recently came out with a Lemon Pepper Panko to join their line of panko bread crumbs. Lemon pepper panko bread crumbs are made with lemon zest, black pepper, and spices and adds a flavorful crunch to your regular bread crumb recipes. Progresso crispy panko bread crumbs are also available in Plain and Italian Style.

Chef Michael Chiarello is an Emmy-award winning TV chef and cookbook author. He is the tastemaker behind Bottega Napa Valley Restaurant, NapaStyle and Chiarello Family Vineyards, and appears on The Cooking Channel and Top Chef Masters only on Bravo. He’s helping cooks everywhere use Progresso’s panko to make flavorful, flawless recipes. I browsed through the Signature Recipes and I plan on making Chef Michael Chiarello’s Crispy Seafood Salad. Panko crusted shrimp on a bed of greens, along with a citrus vinaigrette or dressing sounds delightful! I plan on making it dairy-free and will cook the shrimp in the oven instead of frying. I post about it soon once I make it, so stay tuned for that. For now, I would like to share information on the giveaway!

    Unfortunately, we don’t have Progresso Lemon Pepper Panko here in Croatia, so if i get it, i will definitely make some chicken nuggets with that 🙂

    I would use it to pan fry Mahi Mahi. The Lemon and the pepper would be a great with the flaky fish. With a lemon butter sauce to pour over it. Served with steamed veggies and rice!
