Nha Trang One is definitely one of my top picks for Vietnamese food in Chinatown. This restaurant is located on Baxter Street, alongside a couple of other restaurants also offering Vietnamese cuisine (some better than others). The food is inexpensive, very satisfying, fresh and delicious. The service is super fast, as well. One thing to note though, is that there’s two menus – one slightly Americanized and another with more authentic Vietnamese dishes. So, pick the right one to order from if you want the real deal. You can also ask them to make minor adjustments to your dish if you like, a bit more or less of something. They’ve actually let me order off the menu before too when I asked kindly, which was kind of neat.
Here’s a look at a few of my favorite things to order, starting with a tasty appetizer.
Summer rolls with shrimp and rice vermicelli noodles
Rice noodle soup with medium cooked beef
Bun Thit Nuong
Rice vermicelli noodles with grilled pork
Nha Trang One is usually the place I’d mention when people ask for suggestions for Vietnamese food in Chinatown. Thai Son, next door is a good one too.
