There’s Red Mango, which was started in Seoul, South Korea, back in 2002. They are known as the “original” one. They have multiple locations scattered around NYC, most of which are within a block or two away from Pinkberry.
I have tried their yogurt only once before. The interior is very similar to Pinkberry, just a different color scheme. I was considering going to pick up another pricey cup of yogurt (to happily consume and also, to take a picture), until I saw the line!! This is their 34th Street area store, right in Korea Town. Yeah, I would have probably passed out from exhaustion before stepping into the store.
What’s up with their yogurt?
The yogurt comes in original and green tea. Fresh fruit toppings include mango, banana, pineapple, blueberry, raspberry, blackberry, and strawberry. Other toppings include dried fruits, nuts and cereals like cocoa pebbles, fruity pebbles, and captain crunch.
In my opinion, their yogurt is very similar, if not alike, to Pinkberry. I just noticed a slight difference in the consistency of the yogurt. Red Mango was a teeny bit thicker than Pinkberry, in my opinion. Other than that, I don’t think I was able to tell to differentiate them. Both places offer about the same types of toppings. I normally like to get the fresh fruit toppings, instead of the dry toppings. I wonder if there is a difference? Next time I should eat them side by side. Any thoughts?
