McDonald’s New Mango Pineapple Real Fruit Smoothie

Update: Thanks for the comments! More nutritional information on the Mango Pineapple Smoothie can be found here and here. Many thanks to Kimberly and Keila for sharing the links!

This summer McDonald’s is introducing a new item to their smoothie selection. The Mango Pineapple Real Fruit Smoothie features a combination of mangos and pineapples blended with low-fat yogurt, ice and a little bit of fruit juice concentrate. Last month I attended a McDonald’s First Taste Event in New York and got to sample this new McCafe addition. I’ve actually never tried any of the smoothies from McDonald’s. I’ve heard mixed comments about the Wild Berry Smoothie and the Strawberry Banana Smoothie, but this Mango Pineapple “real fruit” Smoothie was quite good – sweet and refreshing. A small 12 oz. serving contains about half a cup of fruit, but I do wonder how the overall nutrition of the beverage compares and also how much added sugar is in the beverage. The Mango Pineapple Real Fruit Smoothie will be available at McDonald’s this July – ready for the summer!

I was able to taste this delicious smoothie, yum. I would blend in some protein powder that would not alter the taste.

I just tasted the new McDonald’s mango pineapple smoothie and it was wonderful! I’m in Weight Watchers and calculated the points plus for a small … and it’s pretty steep for an all-fruit smoothie at 6 points. A medium is 7 and a large is 9. This compares to the small wildberry at 5 points. Considering fruit is “free” (= no points) this is kind of disappointing news. But I’ll still have one once in a while since they’re so good. Thanks for the nutritional information links!

I am a lifetime Weight Watchers member and I am glad to see the points calculated. What makes it high is probably the sugar maybe

This Mango Pineapple Fruits Smootie is the best drink I ever had! I thought pineapple + mango would have made a terrible combination…mainly because I didn’t care for the smell or taste of mango fruit. I’m glad I was opened to try something new. Life is short – so live safe & have FUN.

The Mango Pineapple smoothie is excellent. I can’t make one
that tastes that good, with such good ingredients.
Make it a permanent thing on the menu, please.

I have a feeling there is Aspartame hidden somewhere in these smoothies, possibly in the juices and purees used. I had one two days ago and now my one retina is bleeding heavily. The only thing that makes this happen is if I accidentally ingest Aspartame. The company is giving me the runaround as to just how the juices and purees are sweetened. I need this information immediately, as knowing for sure if it was Aspartame will affect how my doctor deals with the eye problem.

Beverly, I’m so sorry that you’re going through that. I hope you recover soon. Unfortunately, I don’t know whether the smoothie contains aspartame or not. I would hope not, since my stomach doesn’t react well to artificial sweeteners and might cause issues if I ingest too much.

The only ingredients they list for the fruit puree are: Water, decolored pineapple juice concentrate, mango puree concentrate, pineapple juice concentrate, orange juice concentrate, passion fruit juice, apple juice concentrate, natural (botanical source) and artificial flavors, contains less than 1% of the following: peach puree, cellulose powder, peach juice concentrate, pear juice concentrate, xanthan gum, pectin, citric acid, colored with fruit and vegetable juice and turmeric extract.

But that’s not very helpful to you, since you’ve probably already seen it. 🙁
Hope you get to the bottom of it and get well soon.

Thank you! The problem is with my eyes. Luckily the bleeding in my retina has stopped with no surgery this time, and in time the blood in my vision will clear. Even if it wasn’t the smoothie, I had SOMETHING with Aspartame in it. I’m still waiting to hear from McDonalds. You would think when it’s a medical issue they would realize how important their reply would be!

Hi I was just looking to see if there was Aspartame in the ingredients because my throat closes up and I just had one for the first time and 15 min later I had a reaction.

Hi, I wonder too what chemicals are in this smoothie. I just got off the phone with McDonalds food info line- 877- MCD FOOD and they couldn’t tell me. Today I had my first, and going to be the only EVER mango-pineapple smoothie from them. I make smoothies all the time at home, without any problems. Within 5 minutes of having this one at McDonalds I started sneezing and wheezing, and my throat began to swell shut. I could barely get to an albuterol inhaler and drive the few blocks home to get some Benadryl tablets fast enough to stop the anaphylactic reaction. I am lucky I didn’t wind up in the hospital. Although the bulk of the ingredients sounds ok, their lack of disclosure of the full chemical content in their products is frustrating to say the least. When I asked about the “artificial flavorings” the rep said- “Well, it is less than 1% of the content.” My response to her was that it only takes a little arsenic to kill you too. So much for their so-called “healthy” alternatives!

My mom brought one of these home today and it tasted horrible. They must’ve forgotten to put in the yogurt because it just tasted like fruit and ice to us.

I drink a mango pineapple smoothie every morning. They are so good. If you have a bad reaction to something you should find out what is in it before you drink it. If you drink or eat something not knowing what is in it is your own fault if you have a reaction not McDonald’s.

This new smoothie has been advertised here in Canada for the past two weeks, but not ONE Canadian MacDonalds has their equipment setup nor their staff trained to make them. When talking to their Canadian headoffice in Toronot this morning I was told the Canadian locations were up and ready but at 4:30 pm today I walked into the York Mills Road location at Leslie and was disappointed and a bit frustrated to learn they had supposedly “just received” their machine and “we haven’t trained our staff yet”.

I see a law suit against McDonalds if you have to search for information that is not easily available or…. their might still be ingredients that are not listed at all, or where no one has been able to find it yet.
