This year, we welcome the Year of the Horse as Chinese New Year falls on Friday, January 31st. Every year during this time, crowds gather in Chinatown for a fun and festive celebration. On Friday, January 31st, there’s the Firecracker Ceremony from 11:00 am to 3:30 pm at Roosevelt Park between Grand and Hester Streets. Then on Sunday, February 2nd, there’s the 13th Annual Chinatown Lunar New Year Parade and Festival. The parade starts around 1pm at Little Italy and goes all around Chinatown. The streets will be packed as everyone watches the decorative floats, dragon dances, and performances in the parade. It’s going to be loud and there will be streamers, noisemakers, and lots of confetti.
