Wicker Park’s Kizuki Ramen & Izakaya will celebrate National Noodle Day this Thursday by giving away free bowls of “Tokyo Shoyu Ramen” beginning at 5 p.m. They will offer 100 bowls on a first come, first served basis. The ramen is regularly priced at $9.
Kizuki describes the Shoyu Ramen:
A very traditional Tokyo-style ramen, the Shoyu Ramen is made with a light chicken and pork broth fused with Kizuki’s house made roasted oil and soy sauce seasoning, resulting in a marvelous tasting broth that is slightly sweet yet savory and light on the palate. The ramen comes with thin “Chuka” noodles that complement the flavors of the soup. Toppings include a slice of pork chashu that is roasted, marinated, and then grilled, bamboo shoots, Chinese greens, and a garnish of chopped green onions with red chili flakes and a slice of seaweed.
Kizuki Ramen & Izakaya is a franchise with additional locations in Washington, Oregon, Indiana, Taiwan, Japan. The sole Chicago gastropub is located at 1482 N. Milwaukee Avenue.
