Highlights from Village Voice Choice Streets 2013

The Village Voice’s Choice Streets took place this past Tuesday evening, as some of NYC’s favorite food trucks were parked on Pier 86 at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum. There was nice variety of foods from tacos to burgers to mac n cheese to fried rice to arepas, and desserts as well. Here’s a closer look at some of the tasty eats I came across that evening.

Mike N Willies‘s falafel flauta is a rolled up flour tortilla filled with chickpea topped with tomato, pickles, and tahini sauce.

Comme Ci Comme Ca‘s veggie couscous features stewed potatoes, carrots, and chickpeas and comes with their awesome sauces. Feel free to ask for their Spicy Andalusian sauce and white sauce Casablanca sauce on the side.

Hibachi Heaven served up hibachi vegetables. That’s fried rice with carrots, cabbage, broccoli, mushroom, and onions. Try it with their wasabi infused mayo.

Seoul Food Truck was definitely a popular one at the event. They had Korean tacos, sliders, and fries on their menu. Here’s their portabella mushroom taco with lettuce, onions, and a tasty Kimchi aioli.

Kelvin Natural Slush Co is always a delight and always thirst quenching. Choose your base slush: ginger, citrus or tea, followed by a fruit puree to mix in. I went for Ginger and Pear. So refreshing.

Andy’s Italian Ices has over 45 various Italian water ice and creme ice flavors on their menu. All homemade with quality ingredients and real fruit. Many are fat-free, dairy-free, and gluten-free.
