New York, NY – On July 4th, 2011, New York City based burger chain goodburger will host a BBQ at The Bowery Mission on Manhattan’s Lower East Side. In partnership with Pat LaFrieda Wholesale Meat Purveyors, Greater Omaha, Certified Hereford, Pepsi, Arnold and Hebrew National, goodburger will be donating hamburgers, hotdogs, beverages, and all the fixings to feed NYC’s hungry in celebration of Independence Day.
Founded by Tom Galis in 2005, goodburger, with its 6 locations around the city, is one of New York’s premier fast casual burger joints. Known by many hungry New Yorkers for their monthly promotions including May’s “Single for a $ingle” National Burger Month promotion which offered $1 single burgers on Wednesday afternoons between 3-5pm, this June promotion will allow both goodburger and those same hungry New Yorkers to give back.
Throughout June, goodburger employees have been stationed around the city in locations including Grand Central, Union Square, and Fulton Street stations, handing out vouchers which customers have redeemed for a 10% discount on their next goodburger purchase. Additionally, for each voucher redeemed, goodburger will be donating one hamburger to the hungry.
Goodburger owner Tom Galis says, “This is our chance to do some good this 4th of July and help out our fellow New Yorker’s that may have fallen on hard times. Not only are we offering our customers a deal, but we’re also offering them the chance to do some good and give back by redeeming these vouchers.”
The Bowery Mission 4th of July celebration will be taking place from 12-5pm on Monday, July 4th. To learn more about the goals of The Bowery Mission and how you can get involved with the organization, please visit www.bowery.org.

About The Bowery Mission
The Bowery Mission serves New York’s hungry and homeless 365 days a year, as we have since 1879. We provide each meal, each night of shelter, each shower, each piece of clothing, and each free doctor’s appointment as an invitation to participate in our residential recovery programs, where lives are transformed from poverty to joy, from hopelessness to hope and from dependency to lasting productivity.
