Thursday, March 6th is National Oreo Cookie Day! The Oreo is a sandwich cookie made with two chocolate wafers and a cream filling in between. There’s often debates on the best way to enjoy the cookie. Known as milk’s favorite cookie, dunking Oreos in milk is a childhood past time for many. There’s also so many flavors of fillings to choose from now. I’m definitely fan of the mint Oreo, and the chocolate ones too. Crushed Oreos can also be used to make a tasty pie crust or as toppings on an ice cream sundae. The Oreo cookie made by Nabisco is suitable for vegetarians and vegans. There’s also gluten-free alternatives out there.
In honor of National Oreo Cookie Day, Little Town’s Executive Chef Jordan Andino is whipping up a secret menu item – Carnival Style Deep-Fried Oreo and Ice Cream Sliders! It features a scoop of chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry ice cream sandwiched between each warm cookie. It will be available at both their Manhattan location at 118 East 15th St and their Hoboken, NJ location at 310 Sinatra Drive. Looks indulgent!
