Chicago “Donut Fest” is coming January 2014 0

Chicago’s own Donut Fest is coming January 2014, pitting 15 Chicago restaurants to compete for the title of “Best Donut in Chicago.” While no specific date has been announced, the event location will be at The Chop Shop’s 1st Ward room at 2033 West North Avenue.

Money raised at Donut Fest will go towards Un86’d, a charity that helps restaurant professionals in need.

Restaurants interested in participating in the competition are being asked to email Donut Fest at

Donut Fest is being organized by the same folks that debuted Poutine Fest earlier this year. Poutine Fest returns February 2014.

Chicago Cultural Alliance Presents World Dumpling Fest – Oct 7th 0

Chicago Cultural Alliance will be hosting the World Dumpling Fest on October 7th, from 11am to 6pm, at Millennium Park. There’s going to be cultural performances, artist booths, and of course, dumplings. The event will feature dumplings from Chicago area restaurants, serving up an international variety of foods wrapped in dough.

Participating restaurants include:

  • Tryzub Restaurant serving their Varenyky pierogi.
  • Ethiopian Diamond serving their Sambusas
  • Chow Bros. serving their gourmet pierogis
  • Himalayan Restaurant serving varies kinds of Momo.
  • Himmel’s serving the German dumpling, Spätzle.
  • Kamehachi serving a variety of shumai.
  • Sweet Station serving a variety of traditional Chinese dumplings.
  • Perfect Pasta serving different variations of Ravioli.

How: 3 dumplings for $10 or 18 dumplings for $50. Tasting passes can be purchased here.
