Frontier Chicago’s Amateur vs. Pro Gumbo Cook-Off – Nov. 17

Frontier is hosting its first annual New Orleans-style Chef vs. Amateur Gumbo Cook-off on Sunday, Nov. 17. Six amateur cooks will compete against Brian Jupiter (Frontier), Brian Key (Hugo’s Frog Bar & Fish House), Justin White (Small Bar), Troy Graves (Red Door), David Dworshak (Takito Kitchen), Lamar Moore (Tanta), John Gatsos (Tavern on Rush) and Steve Danan (Trenchermen).

Admission is free to the event and guests can taste up to 14 varieties of gumbo from the contestants. The restaurant will be screening the Saints game against the 49ers. Food and drink specials for the day are $6 Abita, $13 Shrimp Po Boys, $10 Red Beans and Rice with Grilled Andouille Sausage, $9 Gumbo Ya Ya, and $10 Roast Beef Po Boys.

COOK-OFF SCHEDULE:

  • Gumbo Cook-off kicks off at 2 p.m.
  • Judging will take place at halftime (of Saints game)
  • Winners will be announced at end of Saints game, around 6p.m.
