Chicago Taco Fest – September 21 & 22 0

chicagotacofestThe “Taco Fest” neighborhood street festival will aim to showcase Chicago’s best taco eateries on September 21 and 22 in the Southport Corridor.

Festival goers will vote to determine a “Chicago’s Best Taco” winner.

Previously announced as the “Lakeview Fall Fiesta,” the street festival will also feature a fine arts fair as well as live music. Additionally, GALLI lucha libre wrestlers out of Villa Park will put on matches both days from 5:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.

WHEN: Sept. 21 and 22, 2013

HOURS: 12 p.m. – 10 p.m. on Saturday; 12 p.m. – 9 p.m. on Sunday

LOCATION: 3500-3600 North Southport Ave.

ADMISSION: $5 suggested donation

Toons Bar & Grill, 3857 N. Southport (Tex-Mex smoked brisket and pulled-pork Asian slaw tacos)
The Pony, 1638 W. Belmont (duck, smoked beef and pork belly tacos)
Mystic Celt, 3443 N. Southport (cactus and steak tacos)
Crosby’s Kitchen, 3455 N. Southport (pulled pork and rotisserie chicken tacos)
Traditional beef, chicken and chorizo tacos from the Taco Factory (located in the northwest suburbs)
Taco Joint (with locations in Lincoln Park and River North)
Zocalo, 358 W. Ontario.

Chicago Cultural Alliance Presents World Dumpling Fest – Oct 7th 0

Chicago Cultural Alliance will be hosting the World Dumpling Fest on October 7th, from 11am to 6pm, at Millennium Park. There’s going to be cultural performances, artist booths, and of course, dumplings. The event will feature dumplings from Chicago area restaurants, serving up an international variety of foods wrapped in dough.

Participating restaurants include:

  • Tryzub Restaurant serving their Varenyky pierogi.
  • Ethiopian Diamond serving their Sambusas
  • Chow Bros. serving their gourmet pierogis
  • Himalayan Restaurant serving varies kinds of Momo.
  • Himmel’s serving the German dumpling, Spätzle.
  • Kamehachi serving a variety of shumai.
  • Sweet Station serving a variety of traditional Chinese dumplings.
  • Perfect Pasta serving different variations of Ravioli.
