Blue Sky Bakery serving “Middlewest” dinner May 30 0

This Thursday, Blue Sky Bakery is serving a three-course dinner selected from the premiere issue of Middlewest Magazine. Tickets are $50.

Middlewest is a new Chicago publication printed on recipe cards and packaged inside an envelope. The magazine’s art director and editor, Erica Gannett and David Tamarkin, respectively, will also be in attendance as hosts.

Blue Sky is a bakery/cafe in North Center (across the street from Trader Joes) that occasionally hosts dinners. They’re a nonprofit organization that provides transitional work to the homeless and at-risk youths.

Thursday’s dinner will include carrot-cumin soup with parsley oil, spring chicken with preserved lemon and mint as well as dessert, cocktail and paired wines with each course.

Chicago Cultural Alliance Presents World Dumpling Fest – Oct 7th 0

Chicago Cultural Alliance will be hosting the World Dumpling Fest on October 7th, from 11am to 6pm, at Millennium Park. There’s going to be cultural performances, artist booths, and of course, dumplings. The event will feature dumplings from Chicago area restaurants, serving up an international variety of foods wrapped in dough.

Participating restaurants include:

  • Tryzub Restaurant serving their Varenyky pierogi.
  • Ethiopian Diamond serving their Sambusas
  • Chow Bros. serving their gourmet pierogis
  • Himalayan Restaurant serving varies kinds of Momo.
  • Himmel’s serving the German dumpling, Spätzle.
  • Kamehachi serving a variety of shumai.
  • Sweet Station serving a variety of traditional Chinese dumplings.
  • Perfect Pasta serving different variations of Ravioli.
