$250 is the cost for EL Ideas’ “World Most Expensive Ham Dinner,” featuring Cinco Jotas 5j Jamon, a 100% acord fed and pure bred Iberian ham, cave-aged for two years.

“Once the acorn hams have been cured in cellars,” says ham producer 5 Jotas. “They go through a rigorous selection process to ensure that only the best pieces, which reach the most exquisite organoleptic standards and which offer unrivalled quality, are finally chosen to bear the ‘5J’ label.”

The dinner takes place Sunday, May 19th at EL Ideas at 2419 West 14th street. Reservations can be made via email.

Chicago Cultural Alliance Presents World Dumpling Fest – Oct 7th 0

Chicago Cultural Alliance will be hosting the World Dumpling Fest on October 7th, from 11am to 6pm, at Millennium Park. There’s going to be cultural performances, artist booths, and of course, dumplings. The event will feature dumplings from Chicago area restaurants, serving up an international variety of foods wrapped in dough.

Participating restaurants include:

  • Tryzub Restaurant serving their Varenyky pierogi.
  • Ethiopian Diamond serving their Sambusas
  • Chow Bros. serving their gourmet pierogis
  • Himalayan Restaurant serving varies kinds of Momo.
  • Himmel’s serving the German dumpling, Spätzle.
  • Kamehachi serving a variety of shumai.
  • Sweet Station serving a variety of traditional Chinese dumplings.
  • Perfect Pasta serving different variations of Ravioli.
