NYC Food Film Festival – Oct 13 to 16

on

The NYC Food Film Festival returns to New York City for its 5th consecutive year offering a unique series of events where food and film lovers will gather to experience some of the world’s favorite and exotic foods. This is the festival where you get to taste what you see. The foods are presented on the big screen through documentaries and short films and then served to all the guests to enjoy! Festival Director George Motz said, “There’s something about seeing a food film that makes you really want to eat the food in the film. At the Food Film Festival, while you are watching a film about Banh Mi, you’ll be eating one.” Sounds awesome!

Here’s a preview. Above is the trailer for Mistura: The Power of Food, a film by Patricia Perez that showcases South America’s largest food festival and features renown chef Gastón Acurio, who started the festival in Peru and is about to open his 1st NYC restaurant, La Mar.
This year, the festival introduces the 1st-ever Food Porn Party, a Taco Takedown hosted by Matt Timms featuring Hilah Johnson (the queen of Texas food videos), and films about the making of a Turtle Burger, a woman’s steamy night with an octopus dish, a portrait of 3 generations at Ronnybrook Farms, a Texas family’s Molasses making, Dom DeMarco’s Di Fara Pizza and much more!

The festival will run from October 13 through October 16, 2011 at Tribeca Cinemas. The event is produced in association with the James Beard Foundation and a portion of the festival proceeds will go to benefit the Food Bank For New York City. The full festival schedule and menu will be released in the coming weeks and tickets go on sale later this month. For more information, visit www.nycfoodfilmfestival.com. And if you’re in Chicago, mark your calendars, because the 2nd Annual Chicago Food Film Festival will take place November 18-20th!
