I wake up every morning looking forward to breakfast. Sometimes, I like to cook up eggs (poached or sunny-side up) and enjoy it along with slices of whole wheat toast. Pancakes and waffles with maple syrup and fruit is another favorite too. My regular breakfast usually consists of a bowl of oatmeal with fruit and nut toppings. Cereal makes a tasty breakfast too. There isn’t one specific cereal that I always buy, but I generally pick cereals that are high in fiber and low in sugar and have a short list of brands that I tend to buy.

I recently received a package from Cheerios through MyBlogSpark. I was provided with a box of MultiGrain Cheerios cereal to review, along with a gym bag, water bottle and a cereal container to use. Cheerios have teamed up with The Biggest Loser to help people reach their weight management goals with useful weight management tips, advice, and inspiration on their MultiGrain Cheerios website.

After entering the code found inside specially marked boxes of MultiGrain Cheerios cereal, you can access exclusive tools, including:

  • A Body Mass Index (BMI) calculator to gauge how much weight you may need to lose or gain to be considered healthy and not at risk for serious health problems
  • An exclusive 7 Day Plan that pairs daily meal plans with cardio and strength-training routines
  • 15 tasty recipes that will give your body the fuel it needs to get through the day
  • Daily workouts that couple cardio with mobility and resistance exercises to hit major muscle groups

My thoughts:
MultiGrain Cheerios is actually on my list of cereals. I like how it’s only lightly sweetened (6g sugar) and only 110 calories for each 1 cup serving. It has more than 16 grams of whole grain per serving, which is great. They say that people who eat more whole grain tend to stay more satisfied throughout the day and maintain healthier body weights. A diet rich in whole grains is also good for heart health. However, MultiGrain Cheerios does not contain as much fiber (3g fiber) as my other choices of cereals.

MultiGrain Cheerios cereal can make a tasty breakfast in the morning, but I personally like to enjoy it as a pre-workout snack. A cup of MultiGrain Cheerios with soy milk and sliced banana is great for fueling up on energy before the gym.

I started Weight Watchers – it is hard to change habits, but I am very proud of myself after tonight’s weigh-in. I lost 5 pounds!!! I know that is a lot to lose, and I won’t do that every week – it’s not even recommended – but what a great start!!! Multi-grain Cheerio’s are a good WW Breakfast too.

I maintain my weight by eating what I want, when I want. No foods are off limits, or “bad”. I simply look at eating as pure pleasure, and only eat what makes my heart swoon, and stop when I am full. Works for me. Life’s too short not to eat what you want.

When I’m hungry but not actually hungry (bored-hunger) I drink tea. There are lots of flavored teas that can be sweet with no or very few calories (especially if you sweeten with splenda instead of sugar) and will leave you feeling full.
