While wandering the Lincoln Square area in Chicago earlier this month, we made a stop at Cafe Selmarie for a quick drink and snack. Cafe Selmarie is located at 4729 North Lincoln Avenue, Chicago. This bakery/cafe have breakfast, lunch, and dinner menus. They also serve brunch on the weekend mornings. Their hours vary slightly throughout the week. They only serve lunch on Mondays and close after brunch on Sundays. It looks like a cool place to have weekend brunch, especially on a nice sunny day. The outdoor seating area looked very pleasant. The indoor seating was great on that hot scorching day. We ordered beverages and a couple of scones from the bakery and sat at the window seats. It’s find of fun to watch people walking by on the streets. We ordered the date walnut scone. It was great! It was very lightly sweetened and had little chunks of chopped dates and crushed walnuts. The scone was more bread-like rather than cake-like.
Here’s the Date walnut scone accompanied by a cup of Iced coffee and a bottle of Apple juice:
I couldn’t resist but to take a couple pictures of their pastries, cakes, cookies and all those bakery goodies. Drool!
