I took a short weekend road trip to the Baltimore area, a while back. It was a fun short trip. I caught up with an old time friend and went out for a couple of drinks. Even though I didn’t get the chance to explore the area too much, I had to treat myself to some Maryland crab cakes before I left the area!
My friend suggested a place called Timbuktu. I did a restaurant search on the GPS for Timbuktu and we proceeded towards the following address:
1726 Dorsey Rd
Hanover, MD 21076
Timbuktu Restaurant and Lounge is honestly located in the middle of nowhere. It appears to be a pretty roomy restaurant with a gigantic parking area. The outside of the restaurant was very simple looking but the interior decor was surprisingly fancier with nice dim lighting. We went there during lunch time. Luckily, they were not too busy and we were seated promptly, although it did grow a bit more crowded later on.
We ordered their signature crab cake sandwich and their soft shell crab sandwich. Each sandwich also comes with a generous portion of humongous fries. The crab cake was gigantic and extremely delicious with huge chunks of fresh crab meat. The soft shell crab was crispy and delectable. The portions are very large. The bill came out to be about $37, with soft drinks included. I guess this falls in the $ range. The dim lighting in the restaurant made it difficult to take clear pictures, but I just had to share.
